Music + Movement

Music and movement is an educational and interactive approach that combines music, rhythm, and physical movement to engage children in learning and development. This encourages children to explore their creativity, express themselves, and develop various skills through activities that involve singing, dancing, and playing instruments.

  • what will a class look like?

Each 45-minute class is perfect for children birth to 5 and their caregivers. Each session includes instrument play, movement activities, sing-along songs, and sensory exploration! This class combines music, movement, and learning, all while fostering a special bond with your little one.

  • where it started

Music + Movement began right in my home daycare, and it quickly became a favorite part of our daily routine. Every day after nap time, we have a lively music and movement session that's always full of joy! I usually play fun songs from YouTube, and the children dance around the room, letting their energy flow. We love listening to Laurie Berkner, Danny Go, and other songs that are perfect for a brain break to get our bodies moving.

One day, I introduced musical instruments to our session, and it was an instant hit! The children were fascinated by the different sounds they could create and were eager to learn how each instrument worked. This experience sparked an idea in me—to start my own music and movement class. It’s a wonderful way to encourage creativity, development, and a love for music and dance in children.

Benefits of Music + Movement

Music and movement activities offer countless benefits and are fundamental to a child's growth and development. Beyond being incredibly fun, these activities play a vital role in shaping a child's overall well-being. Here are a few key benefits that stand out to me:

·      Physical Development: Enhances coordination, balance, and fine motor skills through dancing and playing instruments.

·      Cognitive Growth: Boosts language, memory, and problem-solving skills by learning songs, rhythms, and patterns.

·      Emotional Expression: Helps children understand and manage emotions, promoting self-regulation and emotional awareness.

·      Social Skills: Encourages cooperation, communication, and relationship-building through group activities.

·      Creativity: Fosters imagination and artistic expression by exploring sounds, movements, and instruments.

·      Sensory Development: Stimulates sensory awareness through diverse musical and physical experiences.

·      Bonding: Strengthens caregiver-child relationships and builds confidence through shared, positive experiences. They will only be this little once, enjoy it while you can!

“We recently attended a movement and music class with my three-year-old daughter, Aila, and it was an absolute blast! The class was so much fun and engaging for my daughter. Miss. Michelle incorporated lively music and interactive movements that had all the kids giggling and dancing along. My daughter was fully engrossed in the activities and didn't want the class to end. It was a fantastic way for her to release energy and express herself creatively. I highly recommend this class for any parent looking to introduce their child to the joy of music and movement in a fun and interactive setting!”
